Mining & Minerals Coordinator
Full Time – 35 Hours per week
(Beaverhouse Band Members and Indigenous Persons will be given priority)
Following the Mission Statement of the Beaverhouse First Nation Band Office, we are seeking a dedicated and energetic Mining and Minerals Coordinator who will work with a dynamic team to perform the following duties:
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the coordination of mining activities within the community’s traditional territory, ensuring that all
projects are carried out in accordance with Beaverhouse First Nation’s land use plans, policies, and goals.
• Coordinate community consultations and information sessions on mining activities, ensuring transparency
and addressing any concerns from community members.
• Prepare regular reports, presentations, and updates for the community, Chief and Council, and other
stakeholders on the status of mining projects, financial benefits, environmental impacts, and any other
issues or concerns that arise.
• Liaise with proponents and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration during
all stages of mineral development.
• Protect known values within the territory. Focusing particularly on traditional land use and
cultural/heritage protection measures.
• Review environmental documents/maps to anticipate upcoming projects the protection measures
required.
• Participate in and monitor archaeological fieldwork conducted within Beaverhouse First Nation territory to
ensure compliance with cultural, legal, and community guidelines.
• Attend meetings as needed to gather information, take detailed notes, and communicate any identified
issues or concerns.
• Ensure contract deliverables and permits are completed in alignment with project plans, maintaining the
required quality standards and meeting organizational expectations.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all agreements, reports, communications, and other relevant
documents related to mining projects. Participate in various sampling/monitoring programs alongside
environmental technicians.
• Conduct site inspections related to activities such as drilling, forestry, and energy projects in collaboration
with proponent staff, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety protocols and checklists.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma in Environmental Sciences/Environmental Management/Hydrology or any other relevant field
• 1-2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
• Must be highly motivated, reliable, and committed
• Experience with organizing and coordinating community meetings.
Assets
• Valid Driver’s License
• Valid First Aid/CPR
• Knowledge of both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous resources, services providers, groups, and programs that are in
the district.
• Ability to work in cross-cultural settings with various groups, project teams, and other staff.
