Compensation & Benefits Information
· Rate of pay: Between $41.16 per hour and $49.75 per hour

Job Summary:
The Grief and Bereavement Counsellor is responsible for the program development and implementation of grief and bereavement support, in collaboration with the Palliative Care Coordinator, Palliative Care Clinical Coach, Timiskaming Hospice Palliative Care Program, and the Timiskaming Ontario Health Team. The incumbent ensures that access to grief and bereavement support is available to individuals and families coping with loss, including death, significant life changes, and other forms of grief. Access may include individual and group counseling support, education facilitation, development of materials for public access, creating support network, and collaborating with provincial leads for best practices in grief and bereavement support.
The incumbent will also provide leadership and supervision to program staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment aligned with organizational values.
Qualifications
Education:
Certifications and Registrations
· Must have Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW), diploma in social services or a combination of health related field working experience and education.
· Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers registration in good standing will be considered an asset
· Specialized training or certification in grief and bereavement counseling will be considered an asset
· Minimum 1 year of experience in counseling, preferably in healthcare or hospice settings.
· Competency in electronic health record systems.
Skill, Ability & Experience:
· Strong understanding of grief theories and the stages of bereavement.
· Excellent communication and active listening skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in diverse community settings.
