Compensation & Benefits Information
· Rate of pay ranges from: $26.47 to $27.16, as per the SEIU-Service Collective Agreement

· Percent in lieu and vacation percent pay up to 18%, as per the SEIU-Service Collective Agreement
Job Summary:
Dietary Aide employees are responsible to help assemble and /or deliver meal trays to patients accurately. They are responsible to pick up, wash and put away all patients’ dishes ensuring proper procedures are followed. They are required to keep their work area clean and sanitary according to sanitation and safety standards. Dietary Aide employees are also required to prepare and serve cold food items and to complete work assigned as outlined in their job schedules. They are responsible to work in the Cafeteria, serve customers, handle cash and complete all cafeteria financial reports. They also prepare and deliver all catering requests and supplies to other areas of the hospital.
Certifications and Registrations:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent experience required
- Food Service Worker Course Certificate considered an asset
- Safe Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain) required
Skill, Ability & Experience:
· Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
· Ability to follow and give clear oral and written instructions.
· Good knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation practices, and basic cost control.
· Experience in institutional, cafeteria, or restaurant food preparation.
· Creativity and imagination in food preparation and presentation.
· Ability to manually adjust recipe yields and estimate food quantities accurately.
· Familiarity with proper cash handling procedures.
· Must be organized, responsible, and demonstrate initiative.
· Approachable, congenial, and enjoys working in a customer-focused environment.
· Excellent communication skills and an understanding of customer service.
· Adaptable to change and able to work in a fast-paced setting.
· Basic computer knowledge and ability to use standard systems for communication and reporting.
