Compensation & Benefits Information
· Rate of pay ranges from: $31.79 to $33.18, as per the SEIU-Service Collective Agreement

· Percent in lieu and vacation percent pay up to 18%, as per the SEIU-Service Collective Agreement
Job Summary:
The Chief Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality meals for patients, residents, and the cafeteria, ensuring all food is made in accordance with standardized recipes and food safety regulations. This role supports menu planning, promotes cost-effective food production, and maintains high standards of cleanliness and safety. The Chief Cook also provides leadership and operational oversight in the absence of the Manager, including staffing/scheduling decisions and departmental supervision

Education:
Certifications and Registrations:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent experience required
- Post-secondary education in a culinary-related program considered an asset
- Red Seal Cook Certification or Institutional Cook License required
- Valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain upon hire) required
Skill, Ability & Experience:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to follow and give clear oral and written instructions.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, storage standards, and cost control.
- Experience in high-volume food preparation within an institutional or healthcare setting.
- Proficient in the safe operation and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Solid understanding of nutrition principles and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Basic knowledge of personnel management and team supervision.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with strong time management skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
