Compensation & Benefits Information

·         Rate of pay ranges from: $31.26 to $33.03, as per the SEIU-Service Collective Agreement

Job Summary:

The individual is responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems (interior, exterior, mechanical and electrical) through scheduled projects maintenance and repair with safety, efficiency, and appearance being priorities.

·         Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings to construction equipment and machinery

·         Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time 

·         Move equipment to appropriate site for repair or maintenance to avoid contamination or workplace safety hazards

·         Create solid foundations for machines on-site and instruct other contractor workers about safe and efficient interaction with machinery and equipment

·         Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required to efficient and safe operation

·         Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances

·         Direct contractor workers when interacting with or using equipment

 

Requirements:

·         Certificate of Qualifications (Inter Provincial) Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipe Fitter, or Stationery Engineer will be preferred.

·         Membership with Ontario College of Trades in good standing preferred

·         Trade or vocational school graduation with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, electrical and plumbing; consideration may be given to applicants with three or four years of on-the-job training.

·         Must be able to read, write, and understand instructions in English.

·         Able to work with minimal supervision.

·         At least two years experience in industrial or commercial operations and maintenance.

·         Must be thoroughly familiar with firing, operation, repair and installation of boilers and auxiliary equipment, refrigeration and air exchange equipment.

·         Must be familiar with electrical and plumbing codes and local ordinances

·         Familiar with installation and repair of water pipes, valves, bathroom and toilet equipment, sinks, laundry equipment and similar equipment; application and use of solder, fluxes, caulking, packing and other materials of trade.
