Senior Project Engineer


Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground
gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake,
North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has
resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for multiple
projects at the Young –Davidson Mine. The Senior Project Engineer will provide expertise in the different
phases of projects including design, engineering analysis, print revisions, quotes, calls for tenders,
scheduling, cost estimation and work monitoring. Applying their leadership abilities, they will manage
different projects linked with other departments to find cost effective and safe solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Supervises the development and application of the short-term and mid-term construction plan;
 Coordinates the projects entrusted to him, from design to delivery of the final product via the
following stages;
 Carries out the design of the project;
 Produces plans and quotes for the smooth running of operations;
 Develops calls for tenders as well as budgets related to projects;
 Participates in the analysis of submissions;
 Establishes and follows the work execution schedule (including cost monitoring);
 Produces progress reports;
 Maintains the communication link with the various contractors or departments involved in the work;
 Ensures the application of all safety rules and standards (internal and external) governing the work;
 Proposes recommendations to improve the work;
 Provides technical support to the project and construction department;
 Applies knowledge in pumping and structure analysis to resolve problems by working with other
groups of the engineering department;
 Mentors and coaches the junior staff in project management;
 Participates in budget and LOM process;
 Supports Superintendent by having an active role in various projects.

Qualifications and Experience:
 B.Sc. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
 Affiliation (or eligibility to register) with a Professional Engineering Organization.
 5 to 10 years of experience
 Experience with large infrastructure projects is an asset;
 Experience with scheduling software is an asset;
 Proficiency with AutoCAD, Deswik, or other mine planning software is an asset;
 Accreditation in U/G Common Core modules is an asset;
 Strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills;
 Strong organization and time management skills;
 Supervisory experience is desirable;
 The individual should have demonstrated, leadership, a high level of energy and self-motivation ;
 Exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work
environment;
 Genuine sense of urgency in production matters and being proactive in solution finding;
 The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills;
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.

Schedule/ Working Environment:
Position is based on a weekly 4 day on /3 day off rotation. Willingness and commitment to balance work/life is important to this role.
