INDIGENOUS INREACH YOUTH WORKER
JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Indigenous Inreach Youth Worker is to provide crisis support to our children and youth. They will do so by employing deescalating strategies, assisting in creating safety plans through a trauma-informed and culturally based lens. This role is also open to assisting with youth who come to them for assistance. They will work closely with ACFS team and other departments that offer services to our children & youth to determine an appropriate course of action. They will be working under the Director of Apitipi Child and Family Services.

Qualifications and Skills:
● Must have a Community College diploma or University degree in a social services
● Ability to remain calm and composed in high stress situations.
● Ability to use computer software tools and resources, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
● Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
● Good communication, organization, problem solving and team skills.
● Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and provide a clear drivers abstract.
● Must have access to a reliable vehicle.
● Must be available to work outside normal business working hours and weekends when required.
